This weekend we will inaugurate the Pecos Park Pickleball Complex with a first ever full scale tournament in the Southeast Valley.
On December 6th we open up with Womens Doubles, all levels will participate. Friday the Mens Doubles will play and on Saturday, December 8th we will have Mixed Doubles.
Sunday, the 9th, we are inviting kids and their parents out for a free fun pickleball festival which will include demonstrations, teaching, contests, challenges and a small tournament. Prizes will include paddles, balls and more.
Last year the Battle of the Paddle was played on make-shift courts on the tennis courts and attracted 138 players. This year we will have over 350 players over the weekend.
The Battle of the Paddle is hosted by the Pecos Pickleball Club and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation.
Our sponsor are Selkirk Sports (Court Sponsor) and Pickleball Central (Player Sponsor).
We have a great lineup of vendors including Selkirk, Pickleball Central, Dura 40, Phoenix Pickleball, Gearbox, Paddletek, Pickleball Planet, Fear the Pickleball, TMPR Sports and more.
We are also have raffles for paddles, balls and more.
The tournament is design to raise money for children and schools wishing to learn the game, we will be buying equipment for schools and donating refurbished paddles.
All donations will be tax deductible through the USAPA SouthWest Region.
Additional proceeds will go to build shade structures for the court complex.
